Pakistan’s political and military leadership have expressed that will present a united front, vowing a robust response to any Indian aggression following the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The briefing, conducted by Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and ISPR Director General Lt-Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, covered the current regional situation and Pakistan’s military preparedness.
According to a report in Dawn, all mainstream political parties, except the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, pledged their support for the armed forces during an in-camera briefing on Sunday.
According to Express Tribune, the military assured senior political leaders of its readiness to deliver a “befitting reply” to any aggression. The ISPR chief reportedly stated that while Pakistan desires regional stability, the armed forces are fully prepared to respond to any attack.
According to Dawn, participants in the briefing were briefed on India’s alleged “false flag operation” in Pahalgam, and the briefing included video evidence of alleged Indian involvement in terrorism within Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan.
Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir, who attended the briefing, told Dawn that the attack’s primary objectives were to divert Indus water, intensify aggression in IIOJK, and camouflage Indian terrorism using the Afghan Taliban.
Express Tribune reported that the attendance of numerous political leaders from various parties at the briefing, including representatives from the PPP, PML-N, JUI, and others. Following the briefing, political leaders across the spectrum expressed unwavering support for the armed forces and reaffirmed national unity in the face of potential external threats.
The Indian government’s response to the Pahalgam incident, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and other retaliatory measures, was also discussed in the briefing. Pakistan has strongly rejected India’s accusations and responded with reciprocal measures.
