A major joint operation by police and the Hathi Khel tribe in Bannu led to the killing of two terrorists on Saturday, according to police officials. The bodies of the terrorists were recovered during the grand operation.
Police said the terrorists came under siege during the operation, and several of them were injured in the exchange of fire. The action followed a late-night attack by terrorists on the Ahmadzai Police Station.
According to officials, the terrorists were trying to move the bodies of their dead and injured companions to a safe location when they were confronted by members of the Hathi Khel tribe in the Tirkhe Oba area. The encounter resulted in intense firing between the two sides.
Following the incident, DIG Bannu Sajjad Khan dispatched a large contingent of police to the area and ordered a large-scale search operation. He said that security in the region had been placed on high alert and the cordon around the terrorists had been tightened.
DIG Sajjad Khan said the peace of the area would be restored at any cost. He added that the people of the region were united and that the fight against terrorism would continue until its complete elimination.
Security forces remain deployed across the area as the search operation continues.
