Two killed, Mufti Kifayatullah and wife injured in firing

Two people were killed and two others critically injured in a firing incident at the residence of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) district chief Mufti Kifayatullah in Batkhela, Malakand, on Saturday.

According to Levies sources, the firing erupted over a family dispute and was allegedly carried out by Mufti Kifayatullah’s own son. The assailant’s brother, Ismatullah, a Levies personnel, and their sister were shot dead on the spot. Meanwhile, Kifayatullah and his wife were injured in the firing.

Local residents reported that the suspect fled the scene immediately after the attack. The bodies of the deceased and the injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital, Batkhela.

Hospital authorities confirmed that Mufti Kifayatullah’s condition has stabilized, though his wife remains in critical condition. Levies officials stated that an investigation has been launched, and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect.
