Pakistan has issued a scathing condemnation of proposals to displace the Palestinian population of Gaza, labeling the plans “deeply troubling and unjust.” In a strongly worded statement on Thursday, the Foreign Office (FO) reiterated its unwavering support for a two-state solution and accused Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement by obstructing humanitarian aid.
“The proposal to displace the people of Gaza is deeply troubling and unjust. The Palestinian land belongs to the Palestinian people and the only viable and just option is the two-state solution, in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions,” FO Spokesperson Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan said.
Khann reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, advocating for “the establishment of a sovereign, independent, and contiguous Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.”
Khan sharply criticized any attempts to displace Palestinians or continue illegal settlements, calling them “a blatant violation of international law, and [undermining] the peace and security of the entire region.” Pakistan reiterated its demands for the return of all displaced Palestinians to their homes, including in Gaza. The country also called for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories, increased humanitarian assistance and an end to all obstructions, and concerted international efforts for the early reconstruction of Gaza.
The FO specifically condemned Israel’s restrictions on the flow of aid, shelters, and medical equipment to Gaza, a violation of the ceasefire agreement. The FO highlighted that the agreement stipulated the entry of 60,000 trailers and 200,000 tents, along with equipment for clearing rubble. The FO stated that these restrictions “are an outright violation of the ceasefire agreement, and it will have dangerous and unprecedented implications for the entire region.”
Pakistan urged the international community to break its silence on Israel’s ceasefire violations and atrocities against Palestinians. It also called on the international community to ensure the ceasefire agreement is honored and to hold Israel accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Furthermore, Pakistan urged the international community to provide enhanced, unhindered humanitarian assistance to Gaza, to open all access points for supplies to Gaza, and to allow all UN and international agencies, including UNRWA, to operate fully in Gaza.
