Tribal elders pledge continued cooperation with security forces in North Waziristan jirga

A significant jirga was held in Miranshah, the headquarters of North Waziristan district, on Friday, led by Major General Adil Iftikhar, GOC 7th Division. The meeting brought together tribal elders, local leaders, and representatives from the district administration. The primary focus of the gathering was to discuss the current security situation, ongoing development projects, and public concerns.

Major General Iftikhar welcomed the participants and commended the role of tribal elders in establishing peace and stability in North Waziristan.

Participants lauded the celebrations held for Independence Day and the anniversary of the 1965 war, and pledged to celebrate Defence Day (September 6th) with equal enthusiasm.

The jirga extensively discussed counter-terrorism operations and the activities of militant groups in the region. Tribal elders reaffirmed their commitment to fully cooperate with security forces to eliminate insurgents.

Various proposals were presented to address development and public issues in the area. Education, social awareness, and positive youth development were identified as crucial needs. Participants reiterated their pledge to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the government and security forces to build a peaceful and prosperous North Waziristan.
