At least 15 people lost their lives and eight others were injured in a tragic road accident near Tunnel No. 3 on the Swat Motorway in Malakand district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The accident occurred when a truck overturned, resulting in multiple casualties, including men, women, and innocent children.
According to the spokesperson for Rescue 1122 Malakand, emergency medical response teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the report. Motorway police and their staff were also present at the site and began rescue operations without delay.
Working together, the teams from Rescue 1122 and the motorway police successfully pulled all victims from the wreckage. Some of the injured and deceased were transported to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Batkhela using motorway police vehicles, while others were taken in Rescue 1122 ambulances.
Hospital sources confirmed the deaths of 15 individuals and said that eight injured people were given emergency medical treatment. Four of the injured are reported to be in critical condition and have been referred to Swat for advanced care.
Initial investigations revealed that the victims were from the Gabral area of Bahrain Tehsil in Swat district. The families belonged to a nomadic tribe and were traveling as part of their seasonal migration.
The Rescue 1122 Malakand spokesperson described the accident as extremely severe but said that their professional and timely response helped save lives and prevented further loss. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
