Police in Kohat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, have killed three militants in a successful counter-terrorism operation following a militant ambush that left one police official dead and two others wounded. The ambush took place within the jurisdiction of Lachi police station.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Abbas Majeed Marwat and District Police Officer Dr. Zahid Ullah, along with a large contingent of police personnel, immediately responded to the incident and took command of the operation. Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
According to police sources, the operation, conducted in rugged mountainous terrain and dense forest, resulted in the deaths of three militants. Their bodies have been recovered, and efforts are underway to identify them. The militants had earlier ambushed police, killing Probationary Assistant Sub-Inspector Ashfaq and wounding two constables.
RPO Abbas Majeed Marwat stated that brave officers engaged the militants and eliminated them. He vowed that the sacrifices of the fallen officer would not be in vain and that the fight against terrorism would continue. The operation to locate any remaining militants is ongoing.
