Three personnel of the Federal Constabulary (FC) were martyred and three attackers were killed after terrorists targeted the FC Headquarters in Peshawar’s Saddar area on Monday morning.

According to police, the attack began at around 8 a.m. when three terrorists attempted to storm the headquarters. Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad said that a suicide bomber blew himself up at the main gate, while the other two tried to enter the compound but were shot dead by FC personnel.

Security sources reported that three FC personnel were martyred and two others were injured during the exchange of fire.

Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) spokesperson Muhammad Asim confirmed that all the injured brought to the hospital were in stable condition, including six civilians who had also been hurt in the incident.

Following the attack, emergencies were declared at both Lady Reading Hospital and Khyber Teaching Hospital. The assault occurred on a day when an assembly was scheduled to be held at the main compound. The government had recently renamed the Frontier Constabulary as the Federal Constabulary.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the terrorist attack and praised the security forces for their “timely action.” He prayed for the early recovery of the injured and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to eliminate terrorism.

President Asif Ali Zardari also condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the families of the martyrs. He said that the “foreign-backed Kharijite militants cannot weaken Pakistan’s unity, resilience, or determination.”

Pakistan, especially the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, has seen a rise in terrorist activity in recent months. This increase began after the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022 and vowed to resume attacks on security forces. The government refers to terrorist groups like the TTP as “Kharijite militants.”
