In a joint operation in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and a local jirga (community council) killed one terrorist. After an intense exchange of fire, the other terrorists managed to escape.
The operation was launched after police received intelligence about the presence of 15 to 16 armed terrorists in the Khairo Khel mountain. Under the supervision of Lakki Marwat District Police Officer (DPO) Nazir Khan and the command of Ghazni Khel Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Haider Ali Khan, police, Elite Force, and armored vehicles cordoned off the area. A gun battle between the police, the local community group, and the terrorists lasted for nearly half an hour.
During a search operation after the gunfight, the body of a terrorist was found. He was identified as Haroon Shah, son of Fareed Ullah Shah, a resident of Dera Ismail Khan.
Bannu Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Khan thanked the residents of Khairo Khel, the peace committee, and the community group for standing with the police and assisting in the successful operation against the terrorists. He stated that the significant support from the community proved that the people and police are united against the enemies of the country.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed also praised the bravery and courage of the Lakki Marwat police, saying that they stand with their police force to rid their area of terrorists.
