A soldier of the Pakistan army was martyred while eight terrorists were killed in multiple operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations. The operations took place on Sunday and Monday.
According to ISPR, an intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted in South Waziristan which led to an intense exchange of fire between terrorists and security forces. During the operation, two terrorists were killed. However, Naik Mujahid Khan was martyred in the line of duty. Khan was 40 years old and hailed from Kohat. ISPR said that he ‘paid the ultimate sacrifice’ by embracing martyrdom.
Another IBO was conducted in Mir Ali, North Waziristan, where security forces engaged a terrorist hideout, killing three.
Security forces killed another three terrorists in two separate operations in Bannu and Khyber districts as well.
“Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the killed khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area against the security forces as well as target killing of innocent civilians,” ISPR said.
Sanitization operations were also conducted in the area to eliminate or apprehend any other terrorists in the area.
The operation comes days after security forces eliminated 71 terrorists in an IBO and subsequent cleanup. ISPR had said that it was the largest terrorist fighting unit ever eliminated in a single operation.
