Security forces have killed six terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district, Inter-Services Public Relations said on Friday.

According to the ISPR, the operation was intelligence-based involved engaging the terrorist hideout.

“Sanitization operation is being conducted to eliminate any other Kharji found in the area as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country,” ISPR said.

A peace jirga organised in Karak’s Takht Nusrati Sports Ground on February 10 had given militants three days to leave the district or face an operation by tribal militia. The jirga had called for a boycott of those facilitating militant activities.

Another jirga in Karak on February 16 was followed by a march from Jail Chowk to Saddam Chowk. Speakers highlighted the sacrifices made by the Khattak tribe across Pakistan in protecting the nation and stressed the urgent need to establish lasting peace.
