On Thursday, a tragic incident occurred at the private residence of Balochistan Governor Jaffer Khan Mandokhail in Zhob district, resulting in five people being injured by an accidental firing from a police officer’s gun. The injured include two police officers and three students. According to police, the incident was an accident.

The event took place while more than 100 students from the Government Boys Degree College of Zhob were at the residence to meet with the governor. A police officer stated that the SHO’s gunman was attempting to clear a jammed bullet from his rifle when his finger accidentally hit the trigger, causing the gun to fire. The SHO Muhammad and DSP were also unharmed in the incident.

Police reported that the gun was pointed toward the ground, which prevented more serious injuries. The injured individuals have been identified as two police officers, Havildar Habib Ur Rehman and Sepoy Rozi Khan, and three students, Sadiq Shah, Zulqarnain, and Muhammad Ayaz.

All of the injured were immediately taken to the Zhob Civil Hospital Trauma Center. Muhammad Ayaz, who was more seriously wounded, was later transferred to CMH for further treatment. Authorities have stated that the condition of the injured is stable. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

This incident follows other similar tragedies. Earlier this month, a young girl was killed in Abdul Rahman Shar village in Sindh when a gun accidentally went off while it was being cleaned. Last year, a minor boy in Karachi also died after his father’s gun was accidentally discharged.
