Several headworks still facing high water levels in Punjab

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a high flood alert across the province following significant water inflows into major rivers. Several headworks are reporting critically high water levels, raising concerns about potential widespread flooding.

The Chenab River is experiencing particularly heavy flows. At Marala Headworks, the discharge has reached 117,000 cusecs, while Khanki Headworks registers a significantly higher 248,000 cusecs.

The flow is even more substantial at Qadirabad Headworks (385,000 cusecs) and Chiniot Bridge (554,000 cusecs), indicating a rapidly escalating situation. Trimmu Headworks also reports a high flow of 239,000 cusecs.

The Ravi River is also experiencing high water levels, with flows measured at 80,000 cusecs at Jassar, 110,000 cusecs at Ravi Siphon, and 108,000 cusecs at Shahdara. Balloki Headworks reports a flow of 138,000 cusecs.

The Sutlej River is similarly affected, with Ganda Singh Wala reporting 319,000 cusecs, Islam Headworks at 102,000 cusecs, and Panjnad Headworks at 224,000 cusecs.

The PDMA is closely monitoring the situation and urging residents in affected areas to remain vigilant and follow official instructions.
