Security forces launched a clearance operation after a a terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express near Sibi in Balochistan on Tuesday. A total of 13 terrorists have been killed in the operation so far.
According to reports, the terrorists took 17 people as hostages from the train, while 200 are being held captive. However, security forces have successfully rescued 80 passengers.
A total of six passengers have lost their lives in the attack so far.
The operation to rescue the remaining passengers is still underway and the entire area has been cordoned off and declared a no connectivity zone. According to security sources, intelligence reports have revealed that the attack is being coordinated from Afghanistan.
The Jaffar Express travelling from Quetta to Peshawar was attacked by terrorists near tunnnel No. 8 between Pehro Kunri and Gadalar on Tuesday. Over 400 passengers were travelling on the train when it was attacked.
Initial reports said that the train’s driver was injured. However, later reports said that intense exchanges of fire took place between security forces and the terrorists.
The proscribed Baloch Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for the attack.
