Deputy Commissioner Bannu District Muhammad Fahim has imposed a ban on the display of weapons and double riding on motorcycles throughout the district under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The decision comes in response to escalating security concerns and aims to ensure the safety of polio workers during the ongoing vaccination campaign.

The ban, effective from September 15 to 19, 2025, prohibits the public display of firearms and restricts motorcycles to single riders. However, exceptions are granted to patwaris (revenue officials), security personnel, and women involved in the polio campaign.

Deputy Commissioner Fahim stated that the measures were necessary given recent terrorist incidents and threats. He emphasized that protecting the safety of security personnel and polio workers is the administration’s top priority. The ban is intended to be in the public interest, and violators will face legal action under Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).

Copies of the order have been distributed to the district police, polio campaign staff, relevant authorities, and all tehsildars to ensure its enforcement.
