Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir arrived in Islamabad for high-profile meetings amid tensions with India.

Jubeir will hold talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, as well as other office holders.

The Saudi minister recently visited India as well. His visit is being linked with a possible mediation effort to end tensions between India and Pakistan.

Tensions have been escalated between Pakistan and India in the last few weeks after the Pahalgam attack. India has blamed Pakistan for the attack, an allegation that Pakistan denies.

India launched missiles on several cities in Pakistan on May 6 leading to Pakistan shooting down five Indian jets. However, India launched several Harop drones against Pakistan of which at least 77 have been shot down by Pakistan so far.
