Russia, China, Pakistan, and Iran Urge Taliban to Dismantle Militant Groups in Afghanistan

 In a powerful joint statement issued on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, foreign ministers from Russia, China, Pakistan, and Iran called on the Taliban administration in Afghanistan to take decisive action against terrorist groups and work toward inclusive governance.

The Fourth Quadripartite meeting, held in New York, saw the ministers express deep concern over the presence of militant organizations operating within Afghanistan’s borders. The statement highlighted groups such as ISIL, Al-Qaida, the Eastern Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Jaish ul-Adl, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), and the Majeed Brigade as posing a serious threat to regional and global security.

The ministers urged the Taliban to dismantle terrorist training camps and infrastructure, emphasizing the need for concrete steps to eliminate these threats. Beyond security the statement called for the formation of an inclusive government that ensures broad-based governance and improves conditions for women and minorities in Afghanistan.

Reaffirming their support for an independent, united, and stable Afghanistan. The ministers expressed readiness to deepen regional economic cooperation with the country. The 11-point joint statement underscored a collective commitment to fostering peace and stability in the region while pressing the Taliban to align with international expectations for governance and security.

The meeting marks a significant moment of unity among the four nations as they address the ongoing challenges in Afghanistan, referring a coordinated push for regional stability and security.
