A protest demanding the recovery of Principal Rahmatullah In South Waziristan Lower entered its ninth day on Tuesday. Demonstrators have completely blocked the Azam Warsak Road in Wana, disrupting traffic and causing severe distress for commuters.
Rahmatullah was abducted by unidentified armed men nine days ago, and his whereabouts remain unknown. According to local sources, a large number of private school students, teachers, principals, and local political leaders are participating in the sit-in, pressing for his immediate release.
Police sources reported that during the abduction attempt, firing by the kidnappers left two civilians injured.
Protesters said that negotiations with the district administration and police are underway, but no significant progress has been achieved so far. Principal Humayun Wazir warned that if Rahmatullah is not recovered soon, the scope of the protest will be expanded.
Residents and members of the education community argue that the law-and-order situation in the region has deteriorated severely, and incidents of this nature could inflict long-term damage on educational activities. Demonstrators have vowed to continue their sit-in until the principal’s safe return.
