Lakki Marwat police have successfully thwarted a major terrorist plot, defusing an 18-kilogram improvised explosive device (IED) planted near Machni Khel in Lakki city.

According to details, a tip-off alerted the police to the presence of the IED, expertly concealed underground along an unpaved road within the jurisdiction of Lakki City Police Station.

Following instructions from District Police Officer Muhammad Jawad Ishaq, local police secured the area and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) carefully and skillfully recovered the device. The BDS team successfully defused the IED, preventing a potentially catastrophic incident.

Police believe the militants intended to target security forces. The investigation into the perpetrators is ongoing.
