Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has pledged a decisive victory over terrorism in Pakistan, vowing to eliminate the threat completely so that no one dares to threaten the country again. This commitment came during a high-level meeting on law and order in Islamabad on Friday.
According to Radio Pakistan, the PM emphasized the ongoing struggle to eradicate terrorism nationwide and highlighted the fear that Pakistan’s economic progress inspires in its enemies. He commended the security forces, provincial governments, and all relevant institutions for their robust counter-terrorism measures, acknowledging the sacrifices made by officers and soldiers in confronting terrorists day and night.
Sharif announced the federal government’s full support in bolstering the capabilities of all provinces to eliminate terrorism and extremism. He noted the encouraging collaborative efforts between the federal and provincial governments in developing a unified counter-terrorism narrative. He stressed the importance of overcoming internal differences to achieve this shared goal.
The meeting also focused on other pressing security issues. The PM directed a significant intensification of efforts against smuggling and ordered a tightening of the net around human trafficking networks to bring perpetrators to justice. He further emphasized the urgent need to complete Safe City projects in major cities as quickly as possible.
The meeting received updates on several key initiatives. The establishment of a National and Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Center at the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) was reported, along with the creation of a forensic science agency in Islamabad and ongoing improvements to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency.
