Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Turkiye on an official two-day visit to discuss bilateral relations on Tuesday.
“During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold extensive discussions with President Erdogan on bilateral relations as well as exchange views on recent developments in the region and beyond,” a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
MoFA added that Pakistan and Turkiye regularly organise high-level exchanges which reflect ‘the exceptional bonds of brotherhood between the two nations’.
Pakistan and Turkiye have established a High Level Strategic Cooperation Council, a leadership level mechanism to improve bilateral cooperation.
President Erdogan had visited Islamabad in February this year, where he had co-chaired the seventh session of the HLSCC. During his visit, representatives of the two countries had also signed 24 memoranda of understanding to take the volume of trade to $5 billion. Trade between the two countries reached $1.4 billion in 2024.
“The upcoming meeting represents a continuation of this robust dialogue and underscores the shared commitment to further elevate the multifaceted partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye,” MoFA said.
