Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif left for Bahrain on Wednesday for a two-day official visit. He is accompanied by a delegation that includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers, and senior officials.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, during his visit, Shehbaz Sharif will meet with Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, along with other senior leaders.

The visit aims to further strengthen the long-standing, friendly, and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Bahrain and to promote a mutually beneficial strategic partnership.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that high-level discussions will focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, energy, technology, education, and culture.

It is worth noting that last month, during the first meeting of the Pakistan-Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group, both countries agreed to form a joint working group to boost cooperation in counter-narcotics, counter-terrorism, coast guard operations, border security, immigration, and police training. They also agreed to sign memorandums of understanding on extradition, mutual legal assistance, and specialized battalion training.

The Prime Minister’s Office expressed hope that this visit will further strengthen the traditional ties between the two countries, open new avenues for partnership, and deepen people-to-people contacts.
