Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed a desire to deepen cooperation in space technology with China.

During a meeting with a delegation from the Chinese space technology firm Galaxy Space, the PM emphasized Pakistan’s keen interest in expanding collaboration across various areas, including space satellites, telecommunications, and satellite-based internet.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to prioritizing its space technology sector and underscores China’s role as a key strategic partner. Galaxy Space, represented by Chairman Xu Ming, reciprocated this interest, expressing a desire to invest in Pakistan’s space industry and pursue joint ventures with Pakistani institutions and private telecom companies.

This latest development builds upon existing collaborations. In February, Prime Minister Sharif announced a joint Pakistan-China mission to send Pakistani astronauts to the Chinese Space Station (CSS). Two Pakistani astronauts will undergo training in China, with one specializing in scientific research to be conducted aboard the CSS. This mission, planned for a future launch, will involve cutting-edge scientific experiments across various fields.

After recent news about Starlink gaining a temporary license in Pakistan, sources reveal that a Chinese company is exploring opportunities to enter Pakistan’s internet market.
