Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid rich tributes to the armed forces for victory over India, saying that the nation’s stature had been raised and India given a befitting response to its escalation.

Addressing the National Assembly, Shehbaz said that around 80 Indian jets had taken part in the attack on Pakistan but had not been allowed to cross into Pakistan. He added that at least five Indian jets were shot down immediately after attacking Pakistan.

PM Shehbaz said that Indian planes had taken off in combat formation a few days ago, but PAF jammed their communications, forcing them to return.

Addressing fellow political leaders, he said that all parties should showcase in front of the world that the entire country is united for protection of its sovereignty.

Shehbaz added that instead of condemning the Jaffar Express attack, India had mocked the incident which would be condemned by history.

The PM added that he had offered to form an international commission on the Pahalgam Attack for a transparent investigation of the matter. He lamented that not only had India not responded to the offer but had issued a demarche to a diplomat of the foreign country who suggested it.

He also said that the National Assembly would pay tribute to the country’s forces with a resolution.
