Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif departed for a day-long official visit to Doha, Qatar, today to attend an emergency Arab-Islamic summit.
The summit, convened in response to Israel’s recent airstrikes on Gaza and the deteriorating humanitarian crisis in Palestine, is expected to bring together heads of state and government, as well as senior officials from across the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Accompanying Prime Minister Sharif are Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi. Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar is already in Doha. The summit aims to address the escalating conflict and its impact on the region.
