In Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, employees of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), led by the WAPDA Hydro Electric Union, are continuing their protest against the kidnapping of their colleagues. For the past seven days, the workers have locked PESCO offices at the WAPDA Colony, demanding the immediate release of their five abducted coworkers.
On Friday, the employees staged a large demonstration on Dera Ismail Khan Road, joined by the families and children of the kidnapped workers. The protesters carried banners and urged the government to take swift action. A few days ago, alleged militants abducted five PESCO employees in the Pir Dil Khel area of Bannu.
Speaking emotionally, the protesters said, “We serve the public, what crime have our colleagues committed to be kidnapped?” Union leaders and the families of the abducted workers pressed the government, stating, “For the sake of these innocent children, the kidnapped workers must be released immediately, or the government must fulfill its responsibility and secure their release without delay.”
The workers warned that their protests and the locking of offices would continue until their colleagues are freed
