Pakistan is all set to start faceless courts to accelerate the proceedings and convictions of terrorism related cases. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, while speaking to the media in Quetta, said, “This debate is going on even before this Khuzdar incident that we should have faceless courts. Because the conviction rate of terrorists is very low, and they get away with the trial.”

According to reports, there are only nine anti- terrorism courts in Baluchistan, with higher pendency in Quetta than in other cities where Sessions judges head the courts.

Tarar said, “Obviously, judges are also human beings and they have families and they need protection, that’s why faceless courts are very normal in many countries around the world. The narcotics mafia in Colombia was countered by faceless courts, and it has its own benefits.

He also said that the law minister has been tasked by the prime minister to start working on it.
