Pakistan conducted successful tests of the Abdali Weapon System on Saturday. The surface-to-surface missile has a range of 450 kilometres, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations. The test launch came amid heightened tensions with India.

According to ISPR, the training launch was part of Ex Indus, and was aimed at ensuring the operational readiness of troops and validating key technical parameters, including the missile’s advanced navigation system and enhanced manoeuvrability features.

Senior military officers including Commander Army Strategic Forces Command, senior officials from the Strategic Plans Division, Army Strategic Forces Command, as well as scientists and engineers from Pakistan’s strategic organizations witnessed the launch.

ISPR added that the president, prime minister and service chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers on the successful launch.

“They expressed complete confidence in the operational preparedness and technical proficiency of Pakistan’s Strategic Forces to ensure credible minimum deterrence and safeguard national security against any aggression,” ISPR added.

The launch comes heightened tensions with India after the Pahalgam attack. Pakistani officials have said that there is credible intelligence that India could launch military action against Pakistan. A special Corps Commanders Conference said on Friday that any Indian escalation will receive a ‘decisive response’.
