Pakistan-India talks could be held in Saudi Arabia: PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Wednesday that Saudi Arabia could be a possible venue for talks between India and Pakistan. He added that the talks would be focused on Kashmir, water and terrorism

Shehbaz made the remarks while speaking to journalists at the Prime Minister House on Wednesday.

Asked about whether China could be the venue for Pakistan-India talks, the PM reportedly said that India would never agree to such a proposal. He added that Saudi Arabia would be a possible venue.

He also went on to say that the talks would not only focus on terrorism as touted by India but would include Kashmir, water and trade as well.

Shehbaz also said that it was his idea to promoted COAS Asim Munir to field marshal. He also added that he had consulted Nawaz Sharif before making the decision.

The PM also said that tensions are de-escalating between Pakistan and India after the recent crisis. He added that if talks are to take place, they will be held between the National Security Advisors of both countries.

A ceasefire was recently brokered between Pakistan and India by the US after Pakistan launched Operation Bunyanum Marsoos in response to Indian attacks on Pakistani cities. Pakistan had shot down six Indian planes and hit 26 military sites in India.
