According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Armed Forces, security forces killed 25 “Indian-sponsored” terrorists—referred to as “Fitna-e-Khawarij”—who were attempting to infiltrate across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in various operations.
These infiltration bids took place overnight between October 24 and 25 in the Ghaki area of the Kurram district and the Spinwam area of the North Waziristan district.
In Spinwam, North Waziristan, security forces successfully neutralized 15 terrorists, which included four suicide bombers. Separately, in Ghaki, Kurram, another 10 infiltrating terrorists were killed by the troops.
During the intense fire exchange, five valiant soldiers were martyred: Havaldar Manzoor Hussain (District Ghizer), Sepoy Noman Ilyas Kayani (District Poonch), Sepoy Muhammad Adil (District Kasur), Sepoy Shah Jahan (District Vehari), and Sepoy Ali Asghar (District Pakpattan).
The ISPR expressed doubt regarding the intentions of the Afghan Interim Government concerning these attempts. It demanded that the Taliban government fulfil its responsibilities under the Doha Agreement and ensure that Afghan soil is not used against Pakistan.
Security forces have reaffirmed their commitment to continue the “Operation Azm-e-Istehkam” (Resolve for Stability) at full pace to root out terrorism from the country.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the security forces’ actions and paid rich tribute to the martyred soldiers. The President stated that “the nefarious designs of the Khawarij and their Indian patrons will never succeed.”
