In the Central Kurram district, efforts to establish lasting peace and prevent extremist activities have gained momentum as the Pakistan Army held a series of important jirgas (tribal meetings) with local elders. During these meetings, senior army officials discussed the security situation in detail, while tribal leaders assured full cooperation with law enforcement agencies to maintain peace in the region.
According to details, senior army officers held a significant jirga with elders from the Shia community in the Gudar area of Ghaki Pass. Local sources said that the Brigade Commander conveyed a clear message that no extremist elements would be allowed to enter or operate in the area under any circumstances.
The tribal elders pledged to play an active role in maintaining law and order and reaffirmed their commitment to support the security forces in all peace efforts.
In a related development, an emergency jirga was held in the Mazrina area of Manato tehsil on Tuesday, attended by military officials and elders from the Zangi, Tandori, and Shaga villages.
According to local sources, the jirga was convened following attempts of extortion by an illegal armed group, which had forcibly taken a contractor’s vehicle and tractor. Military officials instructed tribal elders not to provide shelter, food, or movement assistance to any unlawful elements. They also urged elders to organize local-level jirgas and raise awareness among residents about non-cooperation with criminal groups.
The elders once again assured complete cooperation with law enforcement agencies and requested help in recovering the contractor’s vehicles.
These recent developments reflect the joint commitment of the Pakistan Army and tribal elders to work together for long-term peace and stability in Central Kurram by completely eliminating the activities of extremist elements.
