Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Agree to Launch New Economic Cooperation Framework to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

After a key meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to launch a new framework for economic cooperation. The development marks an important step toward further strengthening the historic and time-tested ties between the two brotherly nations.

Launch of the Joint Economic Framework

According to the joint statement, the new framework aims to promote collaboration on several strategic and high-impact projects in the areas of economy, trade, investment, and development. The framework will play a vital role in enhancing the private sector’s contribution and boosting bilateral trade between the two countries.
Key focus areas under the framework include energy, industry, mining, information technology, tourism, agriculture, and food security. Both countries are already working together on several joint projects, including a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for an electricity interconnection project and another MoU for cooperation in the energy sector.

Vision for a Sustainable Partnership

The framework reflects the shared commitment of both nations to strengthen brotherly relations and build a long-term partnership in the fields of economy, trade, and investment. It also reaffirms the collective vision of the leadership of both countries to fulfill the aspirations of their people and promote mutual interests. Both leaders also expressed anticipation for the upcoming session of the Saudi-Pakistan Supreme Coordination Council.

Following the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif posted on social media platform X, referring to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as his “brother” and saying it was a “great pleasure and honor” to meet him in Riyadh. He reaffirmed the enduring strength of Pakistan–Saudi Arabia relations and discussed ways to further expand their historic partnership in trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
The Prime Minister also expressed deep gratitude for the Crown Prince’s personal commitment and strong support in advancing the shared vision of prosperity for both nations and their people.
