Pakistan and India have agreed to move their troops back to peacetime positions by May 30, a news report has claimed.

The report by Geo News, said that the development has been confirmed by officials from Pakistan’s military who asked to remain anonymous.

The troop pull back will apply to both the international border and the Line of Control, according to the report.

Both sides had ramped up deployments on the border as tensions grew after India accused Pakistan of orchestrating the Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 tourists. Pakistan has firmly and repeatedly denied this claim.

After India launched missile strikes and drone attacks on several Pakistani cities, Pakistan responded with missile attacks on 26 Indian military targets and also downed at least six Indian aircraft.

However, a ceasefire was brokered by the United States with diplomatic support from Saudi Arabia and Turkiye.

Despite tensions persisting, the ceasefire has managed to hold. Pakistani authorities have reiterated that they will adhere to the ceasefire but any aggression by India will be met by a brutal response.
