Pakistan’s security forces exchanged fire with Afghan forces on the border in Balochistan on Thursday over the construction of a check post.
The firing was exchanged in Baramcha in Afghanistan, bordering the Chagai district in Balochistan.
According to Islamabad-based think tank, The Khorasan Diary, the firing briefly took place after noon before pausing and then restarting.
Border check posts have been a bone of contention between the two countries for a long time.
Earlier this year, the Torkham border crossing between the two countries had to be shut down under similar circumstances. Pakistan had objected to the construction of a border check post. In response, Afghan security forces had closed the border and taken up positions. Long exchanges of fire had taken place before peace was finally brokered through a jirga.
