A massive convoy carrying supplies for the conflict-affected area of Parachinar in the Kurram Agency arrived on Tuesday, according to official sources.

The 225-vehicle convoy carried essential food items and petroleum products.

The delivery is part of ongoing efforts to establish peace in the region following a peace agreement brokered by a jirga in January.

The agreement has led to the demolition of bunkers and the filling of associated trenches, a key element in restoring stability and normalcy. Official sources report that 272 bunkers have already been demolished as part of this process.

The peace deal also includes a phased surrender of weapons and ammunition by militant groups to state authorities. This process has also commenced, and over 100 suspected militants have been apprehended.

Kurram as been embroiled in a violent conflict between Shia and Sunni tribes for over four months. After hundreds of lives were lost and the district was effectively cut off from the rest of the country, the government finally managed to get the warring parties to sign a peace agreement through a grand jirga.

However, the peace has proved fragile and has been violate multiple times since the agreement, with aid convoys being especially vulnerable to attacks along the Thall-Parachinar Highway. Still, aid has continued to trickle into the district at regular intervals.
