The repatriation process for Afghan refugees through the Torkham border crossing in the Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province is accelerating. According to data provided by the KP Provincial Department of Home and Tribal Affairs, a total of 133,270 Afghan nationals holding only Proof of Registration (PoR) cards have returned to Afghanistan between August 1 and October 1.
The Home Department reported that on a recent day, 1,277 Afghan citizens with PoR cards and 177 with Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC) returned to their home country via the Torkham border. The statement also noted that 473 Afghan nationals without proper travel documents were deported.
Providing the overall statistics, the Home Department stated that from August 1 to October 1, a total of 133,270 Afghan nationals holding PoR cards and 52,588 holding ACC cards have been repatriated to Afghanistan.
