The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Afghanistan announced that on Tuesday, 1,763 refugee families, totalling 10,405 people, returned to Afghanistan through several border crossings.
According to the Deputy Spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, these families entered the country via the Torkham, Spin Boldak, Islam Qala, and Wesh border points.
The spokesperson added that on the same day, 2,222 returning families, including 13,303 people, were transported to their home provinces. Additionally, 1,543 families received humanitarian assistance.
In Kabul, the Transport Committee helped 1,241 families safely reach provinces including Kunduz, Baghlan, Balkh, Paktia, Paktika, Sar-e-Pul, Jowzjan, Faryab, Parwan, Samangan, Kapisa, Nangarhar, Takhar, Ghazni, Badakhshan, and Khost. Approximately 4.8 million Afghanis were allocated to cover the cost of these transfers.
