Pakistan’s security forces carried out verified precision strikes on terrorist camps belonging to the Gul Bahadur group, also known as Kharjis, located along the Pak-Afghan border in the North and South Waziristan districts.
According to official sources, during a 48-hour-long ceasefire, militants based in Afghanistan attempted multiple attacks inside Pakistan. However, all these attacks were successfully foiled by Pakistani security forces. In the retaliation, more than 100 militants were killed.
One of the attacks by the Gul Bahadur group involved a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) in North Waziristan, which resulted in the martyrdom of a soldier and several civilian casualties.
In response to these acts of terrorism, Pakistani forces launched targeted airstrikes last night based on confirmed intelligence. These precision strikes reportedly killed between 60 to 70 militants, including senior leaders of the group.
Authorities have strongly rejected reports suggesting that civilians were targeted in the strikes. They said such claims are false and aimed at generating sympathy for terrorist groups operating from Afghan soil.
Pakistan reiterated its belief that lasting peace in the region can only be achieved through talks and effective control of non-state actors by Afghan authorities. It also accused India of sponsoring terrorism through Afghan territory.
Officials emphasized that while Pakistan remains committed to peace, it reserves the right to protect its borders and people. They made it clear that terrorists using Afghan soil to attack Pakistan will not be allowed to live in peace.
