Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said on Thursday that the government had buried the terrorists involved in the Jaffar Express attack in accordance with the law.

Speaking to journalists in Quetta after meeting members of the federal cabinet, Bugti said that if the terrorists had not been buried their names would have ended up in the list of missing persons.

He added that if anyone wanted to come forward to identify bodies of the terrorists killed in the attack, they could do so. However, the law does not allow any such person to be ‘glorified’, Bugti added.

The CM said that the bodies were handed over to Edhi Foundation who buried them. He added that the bodies can be identified through DNA matching. He added that the bodies had been buried as a ‘trust’ (amanat).

Bugti went on to say that those killed and buried were ‘hardcore’ terrorists and the government did not want them to end up in the list of missing persons.

Bugti said that the provincial government is making laws that will strengthen security forces in the fight against terrorism. He also thanked federal ministers and secretaries for meeting him in the provincial capital.

An operation to rescue hostages of the Jaffar Express attack killed 33 terrorists, over a day after the train was hijacked. The terrorists, belonging to the Baloch Liberation Army, had killed 26 people including 18 members of the armed forces. However, no more hostages lost their lives in the operation.
