Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited Bannu on Saturday for a high-level meeting focused on counter-terrorism operations. The meeting reviewed the recent surge in terrorist activities and ongoing operations against militants.
According to security sources, the Prime Minister and Field Marshal also attended the funeral prayers for the 12 soldiers killed in a recent operation in South Waziristan, paying their respects to the fallen servicemen.
Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s strong response to terrorism, stating that no ambiguity will be tolerated. He added that there can be no politics on response to terrorism.
He lauded the sacrifices of the fallen soldiers as invaluable assets to the nation, vowing to utilize all resources to ensure the safety and security of Pakistan.
At least 35 terrorists were killed in separate operations in Bajaur and Waziristan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations. However, the operation had also led to the martyrdom of 12 soldiers.
