A grand jirga was held in Ghallanai Jirga Hall, Mohmand District, to address issues of peace, security, and the resumption of mining operations. The event was attended by the Commander of 114 Brigade, the Deputy Commissioner of Mohmand, the Commandant of Mohmand Rifles, the District Police Officer, other senior military and civilian officials, and approximately 300 tribal elders and mine owners.

Concerns were raised during the jirga about extortion demands made by miscreants, which have forced many mine owners to halt operations, causing significant economic losses to the region.

Government and military officials reiterated the state’s commitment to eliminating extortionists, restoring normal life for residents, and ensuring mining activities proceed without disruption. The Commander of 114 Brigade explicitly assured that businesses would face no harm, and mine owners would not be left at the mercy of terrorists or troublemakers. He warned that anyone involved in such illegal activities would face severe consequences.

In response, local tribal leaders, union representatives, and mine owners expressed full support for the government and Pakistan Army’s stance. They pledged complete cooperation and assistance in operations against miscreants. Tribal elders also affirmed their commitment to stand alongside the Pakistan Army to eradicate unrest, reflecting a collective resolve to ensure peace in the region.
