Arrangements have been finalized to vaccinate more than 822,000 children aged six months to five years against measles and rubella under the national immunization campaign, which will run from November 17 to 29.

Along with the campaign, a continuous awareness drive is also being carried out to educate parents about the risks associated with measles and rubella.

In this regard, the District Health Authority, with support from UNICEF, organized a training workshop for media representatives. The purpose of the workshop was to highlight the vital role of immunization and vaccination in protecting public health.

UNICEF representatives, Coordinator Aqeel Sarfraz, Dr. Samra, Dr. Khurram Mubeen, Dr. Asif Shiraz, Chief Executive Officer of the District Health Authority Dr. Ehsan Ghani, and District Health Officer (Preventive) Dr. Jawad addressed the session.

The speakers stressed the urgent importance of vaccination against 12 infectious diseases, and also highlighted the need for protection against the 13th disease, cervical cancer. They emphasized that when mothers and children follow the recommended immunization schedule, they can build strong immunity. This not only provides complete protection against these diseases but also strengthens the body’s ability to fight infections if they occur.
