A tense situation unfolded in Lakki Marwat when a local militia took up arms to recover three hostages of their village from terrorists.
According to local sources, three men from village Bigo Khel went to visit an ailing acquaintance in a nearby village named Ameer Wanda. However, terrorists kidnapped the three men and even confiscated their weapons.
When news of the abduction reached Bigo Khel, the head of the local Aman Committee sent a message to the abductors to release the hostages and return their weapons. The committee leader warned that failure to do so will be considered a declaration of war.
A huge militia consisting of men of all ages from Bigo Khel then reached Ameer Wanda, laced with weapons. The militia faced no resistance as it recovered the abducted men and their weapons without facing any resistance.
The militia leaders also issued a warning that an entire village will be held responsible if any such incident occurs.
According to official figures, at least 158 terrorists were killed in the month of March. The terrorists were killed in 73 operations in 15 different districts of the province. The highest number of terrorists killed in North Waziristan (40). Meanwhile, seven terrorists were killed in Lakki Marwat.
