The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provincial government has initiated a significant program to provide financial assistance to minority families affected by terrorism. The KP Ministry of Auqaf and Religious Affairs has formally directed all deputy commissioners in the province to compile data on all affected families from 2013 to the present.
Focal Person for Minority Affairs, Wazirzada, stated that this initiative aims to ensure that minority families affected by terrorism receive their due compensation. Deputy commissioners have been instructed to submit complete data within 10 days.
Based on this data, a high-level meeting chaired by the KP Chief Minister will be convened by the end of September to decide on financial aid for the affected families. This effort will particularly focus on victims and families of those killed in the 2013 church attack in Peshawar.
Wazirzada further explained that the Rehabilitation of Terrorism Victims Act was passed in 2020, with its rules implemented in 2021. However, the process was suspended and neglected during the changes in previous governments and the subsequent caretaker administration. The current government has reactivated this process, demonstrating a serious commitment to providing relief to affected families. This initiative underscores the government’s dedication to protecting the rights of minority communities.
