In a landmark success for the Karak Police, a key member of a proscribed militant outfit has surrendered to the state, renouncing violence and pledging allegiance to Pakistan. The development came through the mediation of the well-known social organization, Khattak Ittehad.
This breakthrough is being attributed to District Police Officer (DPO) Shehbaz Elahi under whose watch the security forces have intensified efforts to restore peace and eliminate terrorism in the region. As a result, a young man from Saikot, previously known by the alias Sahil within a banned organization, laid down arms and returned to the national fold.
Sahil, who admitted being misled by extremist elements, expressed remorse for his actions. With the facilitation of Khattak Ittehad, he surrendered before the Karak Police and the State of Pakistan.
DPO Shehbaz Elahi welcomed the move, stating:
“The doors of the state are always open for those who repent and wish to return to the path of law. Any misguided youth who surrenders and joins the national mainstream will be received positively by the state.”
Khattak Ittehad President, Al-Haj Mudasir Ayub, voiced hope that authorities would adopt a constructive approach toward the surrendered youth, adding that other misled young men in the region were also preparing to give up militancy.
“We are determined to bring these misguided youth back to the path of peace and law,” he said.
While revealing the details, Sahil strongly condemned his former organization, declaring that such groups were serving a “foreign agenda” aimed at weakening Pakistan.
“They target innocent citizens and national institutions. Their actions are against humanity itself. Initially, they lure us in the name of Islam, but later they turn against the very fortress of Islam – Pakistan,” he remarked.
Religious scholars present at the ceremony cited the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), noting that such extremists embody the traits of the Khawarij – those who cloak themselves in religion while spilling the blood of innocents.
“Such elements are enemies of both Islam and humanity. Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance, and compassion, and those who kill in its name are actually serving the enemies of Islam,” they emphasized.
Police spokespersons said the surrender would not only strengthen peace in Karak but also serve as an encouraging example for other misguided individuals that the State of Pakistan offers every citizen a chance for reform and reintegration.
