An office bearer of the Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam was shot to death by unknown men on Monday in Karachi.
Maulana Sherzada was the naib ameer of the JUI-F for UC-4 Mominabad Town in Karachi West.
Sherzada was killed while going to the mosque to lead Fajr prayers. He was reportedly followed before being shot. However, his possessions including money and mobile phone remained with the body.
The deceased was a scholar and was a graduate of Jamia Binoria.
This is the fourth attack in the month of March targeting JUI officials across Pakistan. Earlier this month, Maulana Shah Mir Aziz Buzdar was killed in Turbat on March 8 during taraveeh prayers. On March 14, Maulana Abdullah Nadeem was injured in an attack during Friday prayers in South Waziristan. On March 22, Qari Nizamuddin was shot in Attock.
