Iran has executed a man accused of spying for the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, according to Iranian news agency Fars.
The executed individual, identified as Ismail Fekri, was reportedly arrested in December and convicted of providing intelligence to Mossad agents.
Fars reported that Fekri’s execution took place on Monday morning. Iranian authorities allege that Fekri was in contact with two Mossad agents and supplied them with sensitive information.
This marks the third execution in recent weeks of individuals accused of spying for Israel, highlighting the ongoing tensions between the two countries.
The execution comes shortly after details emerged regarding alleged Mossad commando operations in Iran prior to recent Israeli airstrikes. Israeli media reported that the operations involved smuggling Israeli commandos and weapons into Iran.
