Pakistan’s top military brass has issued a stern warning to India on Friday, accusing it of escalating tensions through a pattern of aggression and state-sponsored terrorism. Following a special Corps Commanders’ Conference at General Headquarters (GHQ) today, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any threat.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations, the conference, which reviewed the current geo-strategic environment, focused heavily on the escalating Pakistan-India standoff, particularly in the wake of the recent Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The military expressed grave concern over the rising number of atrocities committed by Indian forces in IIOJK and along the Line of Control (LoC), targeting innocent civilians. The COAS emphasized that such actions will be met with a resolute and proportionate response.
“While reaffirming Pakistan’s abiding commitment to peace, stability, and prosperity, the Forum made clear that any attempt to impose war will be responded to, surely and decisively and aspirations of people of Pakistan shall be respected at all costs,” ISPR added.
The conference highlighted what it called a consistent pattern of Indian exploitation of crises to achieve political and military objectives. The military cited the 2019 Pulwama incident, where India used the attack as justification for revoking Article 370 and altering the status quo in IIOJK. Similarly, the military believes the Pahalgam incident is a deliberate attempt to divert Pakistan’s attention from its gains on the western front and its ongoing efforts for economic revival, ISPR added.
The military also voiced serious concern over India’s alleged attempts to undermine the Indus Waters Treaty, accusing India of seeking to control Pakistan’s water resources, a move that threatens the livelihoods of millions of Pakistanis.
Furthermore, the conference cited credible evidence of direct Indian military and intelligence involvement in orchestrating terrorist activities within Pakistan, branding these actions as blatant violations of international norms.
While reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace, the COAS made it clear that any act of aggression will be met with a decisive response. The military expressed unwavering confidence in its operational readiness and deterrence posture to defend the nation against all threats, ISPR said.
