The Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected Indian claims of hitting terrorist camps in Islamabad and said that India must be held accountable for its actions

Speaking at a press briefing in Islamabad, MoFA Spokesman Shafqat Ali Khan said on Friday that Indian strikes have endangered regional peace and stability.

“Pakistan unequivocally condemns these acts. The Indian actions are a violation of the UN charter, international law and established norms governing inter-state relations,” Khan said.

“It is most unfortunate that India’s reckless conduct has brought the two nuclear armed states closer to a major conflict,” he added.

The spokesman said that India’s jingoism and war hysteria should be a source of serious concern for the world. He added that the world can can ill-afford irresponsible actions like the ones being carried out by India.

“Indian government has used the bogey of terrorism to advance its sham narrative of victimhood, jeopardising regional peace,” he said adding that Pakistan rejects any attempt to link it with the Pahalgam attack.

“International community should hold India accountable for its irresponsible, unlawful and belligerent conduct,” he said.

Khan added that India’s foreign secretary had made a number of baseless allegations against Pakistan. He added that it was absurd to link the escalation with Pakistan.

“It is India that escalated the situation by violating Pakistan’s sovereignty and killing civilians,” he added.

“Pakistani forces did not attack Pahalgam, but Indian forces did attack multiple locations in Pakistan.”

The spokesman added that Indian strikes resulted in the martyrdom of civilians including women and children. He also criticised India fora weaponsing water, decision equivalent to an attack on people of Pakistan.
