India could stage fake encounters involving jailed Pakistanis: security sources

Security sources have issued a warning about an alleged Indian plot to orchestrate fake encounters involving at least 56 Pakistani nationals currently held in unlawful custody within India.

According to a report by Geo News, these sources claim that Indian forces plan to kill these detainees, who are imprisoned in various jails across India, particularly in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and portray them as ‘encounters’.

The alleged aim is to falsely portray the deceased Pakistanis as militants who infiltrated from Pakistan, thus providing a pretext for cross-border aggression and bolstering anti-Pakistan propaganda.

The sources allege that staged footage and images, purportedly showing weapons recovered from the victims, will be leaked to Indian media outlets. In some cases, detainees may be subjected to coercion, forced into making anti-Pakistan statements or false confessions before their deaths are publicized.

These claims are bolstered by recent statements from Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, who has publicly disclosed information regarding Pakistanis illegally detained in Indian prisons.

“We have reports, the information that hundreds of Pakistanis held in jails in different locations by India are used in fake encounters projected as terrorists and infiltrators,” the DG had said in a press conference on Wednesday.
